I am an experienced and patient math and science tutor. I am a practicing scientist in the field of Hydrology, and I enjoy not only using math and science everyday, but also finding ways to help others understand these beautiful tools and principles. I have tutored since I was a high school student, tutoring my classmates in algebra and geometry. I have been a teaching assistant in Geology at the college level, and I have also been a volunteer ESL tutor at Bellevue Community College. It is important to me to find ways to make complex concepts clearer and easier to understand. I do this through analogies with everyday life, diagrams, and examples. Because everyone's life experience and background is different, I try to learn about my clients' background and level of understanding during the process of teaching them, so that I can relate concepts to what is familiar to them.
I work on campus at UW, so I'm primarily available weeknights and weekend afternoons. But if you are near UW, I may be able to schedule lessons during week days as well. Also, due to my work and family schedule, it is difficult for me to travel outside of Seattle city limits. For lessons outside of Seattle, I have to charge a higher rate to compensate for travel time, mileage, etc.
