Hi.
My name is David. I enjoy teaching mathematics, and I am good at it. I specialize in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. I've been teaching these subjects for several years. I enjoy working with students one-on-one or in a classroom setting. When teaching, I explain concepts in both everyday language and in their more formal mathematical notation. My first objective is to ensure that students are able to work problems and apply reasoning skills to find solutions. Secondly, I want to familiarize students with the language of mathematics and help them to speak it if they so desire. Often times, when teaching, students tell me "just show me how to work the problem." Usually, in order to do this, formal mathematical language is not required, but if the student wants to develop those language skills, I will help him/her to do that.
I approach mathematics with applications in mind. I have a B.S. in physics and to me, math is a vehicle for arriving at solutions to problems, which are too complex to be solved intuitively. My hope is that my students will develop a greater understanding for the many practical uses of math and gain the discipline required to succeed in their math endeavors.
I hope to work with you soon.
