Learning Japanese through cooking, crafting, etc?

I love teaching Japanese conversation! But forget the traditional, sitting kind. My favorite way is to converse in Japanese while we work on some projects. I love cooking, baking, crafting (knitting, paper craft, scrapbooking, sewing, etc.), or even building something with Legos! You can learn very useful words that way that you might not otherwise if you are staring at the textbook.

I used to volunteer/teach cooking in Japanese to middle schoolers at a Seattle public school. I hope your passion of learning Japanese matches my passion of teaching!
