Hello prospective students and parents!
My name is Miranda and I moved to Seattle about 4 years ago from Columbus, Ohio. I earned my BS in Zoology from The University of Otago in New Zealand. Upon graduation, I completed courses towards a Masters in Education at Ashland University. I currently work full-time as Pacific Science Center's Special Events Coordinator. I organize annual large-scale events, such as research weekends, with volunteer scientists from UW and local companies. All of my prior work experiences have involved engaging people through the presentation of science concepts. A few highlights are listed below...
* Science On Wheels (outreach education) teacher and coordinator, Pacific Science Center - 3 years
* Conservation educator, Columbus Zoo & Aquarium - 3 years
* Substitute teacher, Columbus Public Schools - 1 year
* Independently contracted biology tutor - 1 year
I am also very experienced in the arts of theater and public speaking. I recently (Nov., 2011) appeared on KOMO 4 and King 5's New Day Northwest with a presentation on the physiology of a real human brain. I am happy to facilitate in speech preparation and delivery.
I am seeking an opportunity to re-connect with students on a regular basis. I am available weekday evenings and weekends, within 5 miles of my home in Queen Anne. I greatly look forward to meeting you and working towards your goals for success!
Thank you.
Miranda
