I have been drafting since 1979 BC (Before Computers). I use AutoCAD since 1985, Revit Architecture since 2005 and Microstation since 2004. I am working with current software, AutoCAD 2014 and Revit 2014. I have set up many offices with CADD workstations and standards. I have worked closely with IT to make sure that all of the CADD needs are met. One of my main jobs has been to keep pace with emerging technologies and determine if they should be incorporated into our arsenal of tools. I have dealt with clients, vendors, and cold calls. I have set up training for various aspects of CADD, including standards and new features. In one of my last jobs all I did was teach, with a little consulting. I am familiar with FlexLM which is the license manager that is currently in use by Autodesk. I am comfortable using all Windows software.
I have managed more than 60 licenses and up to 85 users. Additionally, I customized and wrote menus for offices, as well as centralized and standardized AutoCAD. I also tested and trained in REVIT for future implementation. I facilitated the training of the entire CADD staff and chaired the CADD Standard Committee and all other CADD relevant committees. I was the IT Department’s PC technician and contact for all CADD related hardware and software.
I have worked in almost every aspect of the building industry from. Drafting - both manual and CAD - including Architectural, 3d, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural and Civil. I have also done marketing, sales, and use graphic arts for presentations, technical illustration for visualization, custom signage and corporate logos. I understand the construction process and I understand what is needed for a complete construction set of documents. Employment Skills:

Jonathan S. is a fantastic tutor because he cares about his job and shows a great deal of understanding towards people with disabilities like me. I hope to keep him as my tutor for a long time. His teaching skills are better than most, if not all, of my professors at college and his fee is among the lowest on WyzAnt. This means you get the most benefit for the the least amount of money. Because of my tutor's excellent teaching skills, my sister is now seriously considering him as a tutor as well. Thanks for everything. Your appreciative student, Timothy.
Jonathan is quick to respond. I immediately could see his high level of Revit knowledge and architectural/construction experience would be beneficial. He provided some insight and tips to keep me going before our 1st lesson. In just an hour for our first lesson, we discussed our approach and lesson format per my level and my needs and specific goals. John provided additional tips and methods in working with Revit. I side tracked John with other questions regarding how Revit is being used in the industry, pitfalls and advantages, also in cad management use.
I am still a beginner with AutoCAD. Jonathan was very helpful not only in regards to the Title block but also pointing out how other things work. Overall I was very impressed with his AutoCAD knowledge.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
AutoCAD is one of the two leading software programs that specialize in drafting. (the other is MicroStation - which I also run)
I have been using AutoCAD since 1985, and since it was released in 1982 I got in really early in the development of CAD software. I have used every version since. I have used ACAD in almost every building industry. From Structural and Civil to Interior finishing and Precast Concrete.
In the last 10 to 15 years I have worked my way into CAD managing. Not necessarily because I like to manage people, but because I tend to want to know the "Why's" and "How's" of how the program works. Because of this I tend to be the "one with the answers" I have also been told that I can explain any problem in a way that anyone can understand. If I do not know the answer right off the top, I understand where to look for the right answer.
I have used Revit since 2005. I have worked with Architecture Structural and MEP. I have worked in large projects with multiple worksets and smaller projects with only one or two workers in the model at one time.
I have taught for an international Revit reseller in both the Seattle and Portland areas. From teaching individuals who are just coming into the market to older individuals who need to learn Revit after years of using CAD.
