Hello! I'm currently a Statistics Master's student at the University of Washington. In addition to my courses, I worked as a TA in the department for Basic Statistics last year. I attended undergraduate at Claremont McKenna College, a small liberal arts college near Los Angeles, where I majored in math and philosophy. I received departmental honors in both my majors and graduated magna cum laude. Majoring in both math and philosophy helped me develop strong problem solving, logic, and communication skills, all important in tutoring.
I spent all of college tutoring group sessions in the Math Department and one-on-one with several college and high school students in the area. I am able to help students understand difficult topics through detailed explanation and real world examples. I have found that many students' difficulties in math stem from not understanding the application or reasoning behind the math they are expected to do in class; my tutoring strengths are in helping to clarify these concepts. Many students feel that I help the concepts make intuitive sense, which makes the work that much easier.
In addition to my academic experience, I spent two years working in the business sector at a management consulting firm. I was also highly involved in my high school speech and debate team, including a position as president of the 300 person team in my senior year. Both of these experiences have given me strong presentation and public speaking skills.
