I have a natural ability to understand Math. Growing up, I was able to solve complex math problems that amazed my parents and teachers. My classmates often asked me to explained how I came up with the solutions to math homework and as I explained them over the years I began to develop my teaching/tutoring style. More formally, I was employed as University Tutor in Minnesota during my undergraduate study for Math and Science. Generally, I would explain the basic idea of a concept, then I will test the student of this basic concept, once mastered, I would proceed to introduce derivatives of the basic concepts, to see if the student can walk me through how they plan to tackle this variations. I would ask them to tell me what they think so I can gauge their level of understanding. In my experience, I often found that drawing similarities and differences between derivatives of a concept can really solidify student's understanding of a concept. I encourage dialogue in my tutoring style and no questions is a stupid one, I had rather students ask many questions than not at all.
