I have a B.S. in mathematics with a minor in physics and an M.A. in philosophy. I received scores of 800 and 790 on the math portions of the SAT and GRE, respectively. I have been a part-time private tutor for over ten years and have taught philosophy at the University of Washington for seven. I have helped students at University Tutoring Service and Central Test Prep in Seattle and at Boston Global Education in Westborough, MA. I am committed to helping students gain a deep understanding of the material they are studying, not just getting through their current homework assignment or upcoming test.
I took formal logic and metalogic at Kent State and got A's both times. I took metalogic, logic seminar on completeness and computability, and set theory at the University of Washington, earning a 4.0, 4.0 and 3.6, respectively. I have taught introduction to logic and critical thinking at UW and Cascadia Community College and have written an introductory formal logic textbook currently in beta testing.
