Whether your son is having a hard time remembering when "i comes before e" or if fractions are sending your daughter in loops, I can help! I am simply good with kids, and I can usually find the path for my students to reach their own "aha!" moment. I can help illuminate a tricky assignment, or develop a set of customized exercises with math manipulatives and games.
I have a B.A. from the Colorado College and I have completed additional coursework in business management and psychology since then. I am now pursuing my Master's in Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy in Seattle. I have taught preschool, have run a small business, and have been a professional performer.
I have a strong academic and real-world background and am skilled at gauging my student's emotional openness toward a particular topic. This approach allows me to identify both psychological and academic stumbling blocks and customize my tutoring approach to maximize success. I am a committed and caring tutor. Research has shown that the quality of the relationship between student and tutor is the most telling indicator of learning and confidence - I aim to make positive and enduring relationships with each and every one of my students.
My students range in age from 2nd grade to 10th grade, and I tutor math, English, history, social studies, science, Spanish, and art. I offer support with test-taking skills, study habits, and organizational approaches in addition to focusing on targeted subject areas.
I also offer after-school homework clubs (group rates available).
