I teach in the Italian department at the University of Washington, and I am a currently enrolled Ph.D. student studying Italian cinema. I lived in Florence, Italy for two years, where I began doing poetry translation (which I continue to do now). I have translated a few books in Italy (to English), including a new edition of "Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well" by Pellegrino Artusi (Italy's first national cookbook from the late 1800s). While in Italy, I also studied Italian wine, specifically Tuscan varietals, and I worked in an enoteca there. I also worked on a Thomas Cooke travel book called "The Pocket Guide to Pisa".
