My name is Renee and I am new to Seattle. I just moved here from Vermont after graduating with honor from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. I have a natural ability with teaching and a passion for it. I started teaching my younger brother to read when I was in fourth grade and he was in second. Over time,I also tutored him in study skills, vocabulary, and writing. I have also tutored in reading, writing, history, and basic math. I particularly specialize in helping write essays and research papers. In high school I tutored in English and history as part of National Honors Society. In college I served as an academic mentor for one of my sorority sisters and I was responsible for keeping her motivated and providing study support as well as advice on course selections. While at college I took a well rounded selection of liberal arts courses. I majored in theater and minored in philosophy and comparative religions. I graduated magna cum laude and was a member of two honor societies. Last summer I worked as a general camp counselor responsible for a cabin of girls age 13-16 and was the head drama instructor as well as an arts and crafts instructor. I spent the past summer working as a teaching intern for Taproot Theater. I taught acting, movement, musical theater, film, improv, and theory. I was an AVID academic coach at Highland Middle School and Interlake High School in Bellevue. As a tutor I am patient and encouraging and am able to help others focus on and even enjoy their studies. I am fun and laid back but work hard and help others do the same.
