Hello potential students!
My goal as an instructor has always been to engage and connect with my students on a human level so that we can learn collaboratively. Having been the recipient of tutoring as well as the instructor, I am deeply aware of the importance of patience, kindness and respect for diverse ways of thinking.
These values constitute the backbone of my teaching strategy, but I carry years of experience with a deep knowledge of the subject. I have tutored over 20 students in the past four years, and have watched them evolve from frustration and C grades to greater confidence reflected in their new As and improved study habits. Below is a list of the experiences that I hope will demonstrate my passion and aptitude for teaching:
-Four years of experience tutoring over 20 middle school to college level students in Spanish
-Watched many of my students progress from Cs to As, while gaining tremendous confidence and improved study habits.
-Graduated from Colorado College with GPA of 3.7 (major, philosophy, minor, Spanish)
-Worked in the writing center for two years helping students edit papers
-ESL teaching to Latino immigrants in Colorado Springs
-Tutored English during my study abroad in Barcelona, Spain and Florence, Italy
-Taught English in a tiny indigenous Kuna village in Panama for one month (completely isolated and independent.)
-Worked for a nonprofit law firm that only serves migrant farm workers under the poverty line (Demands Spanish fluency with translation skills)
Certainly there are plenty of highly-qualified instructors available on WyzAnt, but good chemistry between a student and professor is hard to come by. If you are interested in a friendly, patient and enthusiastic instructor who promises tremendous progress, then you have found your perfect match.
I would be thrilled to be your tutor!
