About Susan:
From 1981-2008, I taught business and pre-business undergraduates at the University of Washington and other colleges. My areas of expertise include law, ethics and business communication. I have degrees in English and law. I am an excellent writing coach. I've tutored high school students in the reading and writing portions of the SAT; taught adults to prepare for the LSAT and GRE, and tutored ESL students in English, writing and law. I've also tutored adults to take the U.S. citizenship test. I have a strong background in English, American history, government and politics; business, European and world history.
In my personal life, I am a skilled and experienced writer, a long-time organic food gardener, a bicyclist and a sea kayaker. More than 20 years ago, I founded a book club that is still meeting, and which I facilitate. I am a volunteer speaker for the Washington office of the American Civil Liberties Union. In the last ten years, I have volunteered at two food banks and participated in fundraising for several local non-profit organizations. For many years I have sung in community choruses.
In 1994 I completed a certificate in non-fiction writing through the Extension program at the University of Washington. Writing is one of my favorite hobbies. Some of my other hobbies include crocheting, beading, quilting and genealogical research. I have spent most of my career teaching and tutoring college students as well as tutoring high school students. Working with people to help them improve their skills is enjoyable and satisfying.
