I am Margie, and I have over 35 years of experience in education, both in teaching and administration. I am certified to teach K-8 in Massachusetts. I have a Masters of Education degree in Creative Arts and Learning from Lesley University. Therefore, I know that there are many ways that students learn, and I have strategies for all types of learners.

Elementary (K-6th)

The foundation for all learning occurs during the time a child spends in elementary school. Language arts, math, social studies and science are subjects upon which further knowledge is based. Proficiency in these subjects is offered as the alternative to frustration and failure.

Being certified for elementary education (K-8), I am qualified to provide this service.

Phonics

Phonics, although not the only element in a reading program, plays a critical role in its usage. Discriminating patterns, rhymes, initial sounds, ending sounds, etc. can allow the student to find success in reading the English language. I have taught phonics for many years, and I have developed over a hundred games and activities to facilitate the mastery of phonics.

Study Skills

I have always been a successful and conscientious student. I believe that this is due to a mastery of good study skills. Study skills are all about time management. I can help a student establish a routine that will ensure academic success.

Hebrew

I have studied the Hebrew language since I was six years old. My major in college was Near Eastern and Judaic Studies, for which Hebrew language was a prerequisite. I spent half of my junior year in college living in Israel, and have been back a dozen times for extended periods of time. I am schooled in formal grammar of both modern and Biblical Hebrew.

Needlework

I am proficient in many needlework arts. I can teach crochet, embroidery, needlepoint, and crewel. These skills can be used to bring a bit of oneself to personal items as well as to gifts.
