Hi! I was born in Taiwan and grew up in California. When I first came to America, I was enrolled in ESL classes. I also had many relatives who moved to America from Taiwan, so I tutored many of them in English and in their class work. So I have first-hand experience with the difficulties of learning English.
Teaching has always been a passion of mine, starting in high school. Right after graduating from college, I returned to Taiwan and lived for a year there learning Chinese and teaching English. I have since returned several times. I have also traveled on study tours to China.
Eleven years ago, I earned my teaching certificate and began my career as a formal high school teacher. I have taught primarily ESL - English as a Second Language. Besides ESL, I have also taught these classes: health, Chinese brush painting, law, tai chi, Mandarin Chinese (beginning), and art.
During the past six months, I was an ESL instructor at Green River Community College. While there, I taught international students four hours a day, five days a week in: grammar, listening/speaking, reading/writing.
It has been a joy and a privilege teaching students during the past few years. Here are some comments I have received from students:
"You are one of the best teachers I have ever met in my entire life. You are not just a teacher, you are my friend." - Jasse, student from India
"There are a lot of words I can say to describe you, but the words that stand out to me more is clean, prepared, funny, unique, inspiring, thoughtful, kind, caring and the greatest." - Kate, student from the Philippines
"I believe a teacher is my second parent, so you are the one who has taught me, helped me, and given me many ideas . . . I will never be able to finish writing and sharing my thoughts on what you did for me during these four years, but thank you for treating us as your family member or as your children." - Sabitra, student from Nepal
"You have been a great teacher to me and helpful. You would always be there every time I need help and I would like to thank you for that." - Christopher, student from the Philippines
You will find me a very engaging, caring teacher who will help you succeed in what you need help in. I look forward to meeting you!
