I have a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and Intercultural Studies. I have worked at several different community colleges and at one university in NJ and WA. I’ve taught classes from beginner to advanced levels and have experience teaching grammar, writing, phonology, reading, listening and discussion/speaking classes.
In addition to completing the objectives for the students that I tutor, I feel that part of my role is to build confidence in my students. Learning a second language is difficult. I’ve taken Spanish and Chinese in the past, so I can speak from my own personal experience. I am a native speaker, however English was my second language. I can relate to my students and I see myself as a role model to inspire students to keep studying and working hard. I am also bi-cultural and that has helped me to relate to my students and my students to me.
