Teaching is one of my passions and I hope to keep exercising that passion by meeting some of you! I teach most effectively through one-on-one and group interactions. Thus, tutoring is my specialty when it comes to teaching. The subjects that I can tutor are math and physics because I have a Bachelor and Master degree in physics from Western Washington University and University of Arkansas (Fayetteville). During my undergraduate and graduate years at those schools, I taught beginning level physics courses for seven years and I enjoyed it! With this level of education and experience, I can tutor from elementary school level to graduate level.

In addition to my physics/math and teaching background, I have computer skills ranging from Microsoft Office to some programming. So I am willing to teach general computer skills.

As a final note, I am fun, supportive, and patient and I hope to make your learning experience a fun one. I am willing to adjust my teaching style so that it aligns with your learning style because I want my students to get the most out of me.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I know Calculus can be a scary subject but it can be a fun one because it has many real life applications. Give me a chance to help you appreciate Calculus so that you will enjoy it and have fun with it. In fact, I heard that those who were nervous about Calculus came to love it as they progressed into it.

Differential Equations

When I took a math class on Differential Equation (DiffEq), I thought it was easier to understand than Calculus. In this DiffEq class, I learned about how to solve first-order differential equations that describe systems such as population growth and the harmonic oscillator. These differential equations even involve imaginary numbers and eigenvalues and eigenvectors. I came to appreciate those after I took this class and I enjoyed it! I hope to make your DiffEq class a similar experience.

Physics

Physics is my specialty because I have a Bachelor and Master degree in Physics. While studying, I worked as a Teaching Assistant where I taught introductory physics laboratory courses. The lab courses I taught were Newtonian Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism (my favorite!), Geometric Optics, and General Physics. Teaching these courses for a total of seven years during my undergraduate and graduate career combined gives me the confidence needed to tutor someone like you in Physics!
