Hello! My name is Erin. I am a graduate of Western Washington University with a B.A. in mathematics, secondary education; I student taught February-June of 2013 in an Everett middle school math classroom, and currently I am a substitute teacher. I love teaching and am passionate about mathematics, and I enjoy working with middle and high school students. I've discovered that I learn so much from the students that I work with, and I hope to work with you! I want to find out how to make the math that you are working on relevant to you, and I'd like us to find a way to make it "stick" so you can explore the subject and enjoy what you are learning. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I recently spent 40 hours (across 8 weeks) working with students in two Algebra 1 classes.

Algebra 2

Algebra is one of my favorite math topics!

Geometry

Geometry is one of my favorite math topics!

Prealgebra

I think Prealgebra is fun, and it is an important and foundational class to take.

Precalculus

I have great memories of taking this class in high school! It is a fascinating topic.

Theatre

I have been involved in theater for over 13 years, including community theater and theater at the middle school and college levels. I have a minor from Western Washington University in Theatre Arts. I have stage-managed and assistant stage-managed, run lights and sound, run spotlight, been on stage crew, run concessions, sold tickets/been in box office, helped paint set, and have been onstage a couple of times. With my minor in theatre arts, I hope to someday get a teaching endorsement for secondary grades.

Trigonometry

I have great memories of taking this class in high school! It is a fascinating topic.

Very patient!!! — Erin was very patient with my daughter! She took her time to reinforce critical thinking and was encouraging when she missed a question instead of just saying she was wrong. My daughter likes her a lot and is much more comfortable with having a tutor now!!! Thank you Erin!!! ...
