I am a firm believer in the old adage that knowledge is power. As a tutor, I strive to empower students with the skills and tools necessary to be successful both in academic and professional settings. But even more that than, I hope to impart in them a lifelong commitment to learning will lead to a richer and more rewarding life.
I recently graduated from the University of Washington as a triple major in Political Science
, International Studies and History
, magna cum laude. During my time at the UW, I worked as a multidisciplinary writing
tutor. In this position, I accumulated over 500 hours of one-on-one tutoring experience with a wide-range of students, including undergraduate, graduate and English Language
Learners students. My interdisciplinary background allows me to teach a wide variety of academic subjects, both at the high school and college level. However, my primary expertise is in the social sciences, humanities and writing.
My tutoring philosophy
is based on the belief that the best learning is achieved while working in an open and collaborative environment in which ideas can be exposed to discussion and critical examination. I use a question-based approach that encourages students to challenge their own thinking and make the move from being knowledge consumers to knowledge producers.
I am flexible both in terms of time and location. I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy but am willing to offer make-up sessions when requested.
I look forward to hearing from you and learning more about how I can best help you achieve success in your studies.
