Parents/guardians:

As a father who understands the struggles and challenges associated with raising children, along with the fact that I’ve successfully managed classrooms with 30+ 11 and 12-year-old students, I hope, after reviewing my credentials, you’ll find me a tutor worthy of consideration.

First of all, I'm an experienced teacher who for the past 25+ years worked at providing my accelerated sixth grade math groups with the tools they needed to achieve at the highest level. I'm pleased to state that over the many years I spent working in the classroom, the vast majority of my students performed at an exceptional level on state tests. I understand the concepts presented in math classes at 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades including prealgebra and believe you'll find me to be a competent, caring, and enthusiastic teacher.

As for my background, I have a bachelor's degree in management from Northern Illinois University and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University. I am recently retired but taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades for Community Consolidated School District 15 in Palatine, Illinois the past 32 years. During my time teaching, I had the opportunity to participate in helping transform our school into a high tech and progressive center for education. I've spoken at several NSBA (National School Board Association) conferences around the country concerning the future of education and appear as a featured presenter on one of the ASCD's (The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development's) video series - What Works in Schools: Translating Research into Action.

I feel confident in my ability to make a difference for children either struggling to understand math, looking for support to solidify understanding of concepts, or desiring to work at new levels beyond the traditional 4th, 5th, or 6th grade classroom.

I'd appreciate an opportunity to meet with you to discuss your child's needs and goals.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
