Tutoring is an art, a science, a creative endeavor and an opportunity for me to help you!
I love teaching the various levels of ESL and I especially take pride in knowing how to teach it for the different learning types that exist in students. I strive to make grammar fun, to ensure practical application and allow students to be responsible for their learning. I am a native English speaker with a University of Washington diploma in English, as well as a Seattle University backed TESOL certification. As a student and learner of another language, I can relate to the challenges that may be encountered while learning a second language. Knowing how to teach a language is crucial for its long term retention. I look forward to helping you to learn the amazing language of English.
As well as tutoring for ESL students, I enjoy the opportunity to help students with English—grammatical lessons as well as reading and writing in response to literature pieces. Exploring the possible inferences that can be made of a work of literature, poem or even a newspaper article, has the ability to provide a great deal of pleasure and enlightenment. It is important for many academic students to also have the skill to write their observations and interpretations in intelligent, clever and concise papers. Having spent the majority of my academic career doing just that, as an English Literature major, it would give me great joy to help you to discover the nuances of interpreting literature and writing responses to said literature.
May you always have fun learning!
