I have over 30 years of professional experience in broadcast television production as a producer and director with even longer experience in still photography.
There are basically 5 areas of Photography that I presently offer instruction in:
This is the "Master's Class" in photography, designed for people at a beginner to intermediate level who want to become more serious about their photography

For people with their first digital camera who need help in understanding how to get the most out of their camera
3. Organizing your photos
This course will give you the tools and techniques to keep track of and smartly organize your digital photos, so the photo you want will be at your finger tip, when you want it.
4. How to take better pictures of -

Tips and tricks to help improve technique for specific shooting situations.
5. Printing at home
Tips and tricks on how to achieve quality color and B&W printing at home.
The above curriculum is designed to provide the novice to intermediate photographer with all the information they require in each of the different areas, regardless of camera; smartphone, point-and-shoot, dSLR, 35mm film or full frame digital. The content can easily be modified and dialed up or down in depth and detail, depending on the individual needs of the student. The teaching methodology will be a mix of some lecture/discussion with lots of practical hands-on exercises.
Detail of the Comprehensive Course:
Part 1: Fundamentals of Photography -
The fundamentals are broken down into two general areas of study, Technical and Aesthetics:
The Technical covers the mechanics of image creation with light and lens, then how that image is recorded in the camera. This then leads to learning the basics of Exposure and the nature of Light.
The Aesthetics cover the basic concepts of the Frame including Aspect Ratios, Composition, Balance and Contrast. An Introduction to Lighting (natural and flash) Subject Matter and B&W vs. Color will also be included.
Part 2: Overview of Digital Post Production, Tools and Techniques -
This will expose the student to photo editing, image enhancement and workflow with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Lightroom (as well as other free and/or web based equivalent solutions, as requested). Distribution will round out the course, covering physical printing, printing to file, publishing services, sharing and social media and attaching to email.
I have over 30 years' professional experience in television production, having worked on shows for all the major networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, DISNEY etc.) and syndicators (King World, Telepictures, Warner Bros., etc) as a producer and/or director. I have also taught video and film production and production management at the University of Washington Extension for approximately 8 years as well as developed the course curriculum. And lastly, I have been the Managing Senior Producer and Executive In Charge of Production for Microsoft Productions Studios for 11 years in Redmond, WA.
