I love teaching, and have been tutoring for more than seven years now. I have worked with more than 300 students in subjects ranging from college level physics to high school essay writing to elementary school math. I first started tutoring in high school. Then, while I was studying physics at the University of Washington, I worked as a volunteer tutor, a physics teaching assistant, and an SAT/ACT prep coach. I became interested in how people learn, and decided to pursue a graduate degree in cognitive psychology.
I especially love teaching students the skills to do well on their own- problem solving, studying, test taking, how to read questions, etc. The course work for my master's degree was focused on learning: learning differences, curriculum, and development. My master's thesis was on physics misconceptions, and I wrote a research paper on gender differences in the sciences.
I love math and physics and finding ways to make them interesting and fun for others. I do my best to tailor my teaching style to each individual.
I am also happy to work with groups of up to 4 students on SAT or ACT prep, or on academic subjects.
