My name is Brandon, and I have a passion for teaching. I have learned from my high school teachers and college professors that immersing one's self into a subject yields the best results. Taking that lesson to heart, I studied the topics that I love the most: Spanish language and American History.
The Spanish language has been a special hobby of mine ever since I lived abroad in Guatemala. The few years I spent there were amazing, because I was able to connect with a different culture by learning the language. I spoke like the people and acted like the people. I developed my speaking and communication in order to become as much like a native speaker. I make Spanish fun and compelling! Learn the mannerisms and body language all while learning the grammar and vocabulary.
I recently graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in American Studies. Prior to that, I attended Pierce College where I studied a variety of topics in business, language arts, and history. While attending Pierce College, I worked in Student Government and the Tutoring Center assisting students with their many homework projects in Spanish and helping them engage in college and other civic activities. I also organized and ran the quarterly New Student Orientation. I know what it means to energize individuals to accomplish goals and feel good about learning!
Seeing students get results and feeling success is what drives me to teach. I teach in a manner that immerses the student in the topic by feeling emotion and excitement all while understanding the information. History is not valuable without understanding the feelings of the moment. Spanish language cannot be learned without a change of attitude and mindset to fit the culture.
I accomplish all this while respecting the uniqueness of the individual students that I teach. I adapt to different situations easily and have a great deal of patience for any learning speeds.
