I am Masters Graduate in Accounting, with a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies emphasizing Math, English, and Business Management. I began tutoring Math, English, Science, and History in 1990, while in middle school and I have continued to tutor since.

I enjoy tutoring and seeing my student learn and grow in confidence. My two most recent tutoring jobs have been in medical calculations and writing, with a nursing student in Edgewood, and math, science, history, and English with an eighth grader in Federal Way.

My tutoring and teaching method is learning about my students learning style and communication method and employ the teaching and communication style that is the most effective for them. This allows me to tailor lessons to the students strengths and make it relevant to their interests, building their confidence in learning and most importantly themselves.

"Incredible tutor!"

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra was the first subject I started tutoring more than twenty years ago and the subject I have most often tutored. Algebra is an important stepping stone to more advanced math and is easily taught (and learned) when kept simple.

Algebra 2

I have been a math tutor since high school, class of 95, and I love teaching math. My most recent tutoring jobs, including my son, have been Algebra 2 and I encourage you to look at my lesson feedback.

I believe in teaching problem solving skills and showing my students how to breakdown complex problems into small easily manageable parts. My goal is to instill confidence and understanding of math that will serve them throughout their educational and professional careers.

English

I started tutoring English over twenty years ago. I have a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, emphasizing English, Math and Business Management, from the New York Institute of Technology.

I enjoy writing poetry and have since junior high. As a business professional I write communications in multiple formats on a daily basis.

Geometry

I began tutoring Geometry in high school over twenty years ago. I teach my students problem solving skills and the ability to breakdown complex problems into simple easily manageable parts. Skills that are essential to ongoing academic success.

The easiest way to graph the equation 5x - 3y = 2 is to change the equation (from standard form) to the point slope form, y = mx + b, where m = the lines slope and b = the y intercept (where the line crosses the y-axis). Use the following steps to convert the equation's form: The...

Josh to solve 3x - 5 = 2x + 14 requires 4 simple steps: Step 1: Combine the variables by moving both variables onto 1 side of the equation. This is done by subtracting 2x from both sides. 3x - 5 = 2x + 14 -2x          -2x This...
