I am Dr. Anna, I have a PhD in infectious diseases & immunity from UC Berkeley and currently work as an infectious disease researcher at the Seattle BioMedical Research Institute. Despite pursuing an active career in biomedical research, I have continued to develop my skills in teaching biology (microbiology, molecular & cell biology, Earth science, virology, infectious diseases, etc.) at all levels of my career. As a teaching assistant (TA) I have taught classes for high school, college, and graduate level courses, so I am very familiar with scaling vast quantities of information into small digestible sessions. I currently volunteer with BioQuest, a satellite facility with Seattle BioMed that offers high school students the opportunity to visit our laboratories and interact with scientists who actively study diseases like malaria, TB and HIV. Over the years, I have worked in various academic settings including lecture halls, small classrooms as well as having worked with students one-on-one and in small groups (anywhere from 3-10).
I am offering tutoring (scaled to meet your specific needs) in math/science for anyone in the 5th grade through high school, college and/or graduate school. I have also provided help with studying habits, public speaking, college prep and job/college interviews for those interested in professional development.
I can provide a list of references with respect to my teaching abilities for those interested. I look forward to meeting you soon!
