I am a flexible, understanding, and enthusiastic teacher. I have over five years experience as a teacher in a range of situations, including:
-elementary, secondary, and college-level classes
-teaching in a one-on-one or small group setting
-teaching overseas and with students from around the world
I'm happy to negotiate lesson details or discuss the needs of students before beginning lessons. I am a positive, sensitive tutor, and I'm happy to help connect dedicated students with the tools and resources to reach their educational goals.
I have a degree in English, with an emphasis on creative writing. As a college instructor of English Composition, I taught a diverse range of students and received very positive feedback from students that continued well after they completed the course. Focuses include structuring essays, increasing critical thinking and rhetoric ability, improving grammar and mechanics usage, developing effective writing styles, and helping students understand English as empowering, meaningful, and fun.
I have over three years of professional experience teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL). I have taught overseas in Asia and Africa, and I have taught students from around the world that have come to America. I use a variety of effective teaching methods (including CLT, CLIL, PPP, CLL, Direct Method, Functional-Notional Syllabi,Task-based) and I work with students with all levels of English ability. I can help students improve in all areas of English, or if a student wishes, I can focus on specific areas. For example I can help students with a specific area of Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, Vocabulary, Idioms and Expressions, Grammar, Translating, or Functions (including English for Employment, Academics, Travel, or other Special Purposes).
