For more than 40 years I have been teaching academic subjects along with performing and visual arts, environmental education, English as a second language, journalism, poetry, and creative writing. I am a published playwright, professional actor, director, recording artist and singer/songwriter with international touring experience. I lived in England for six years, touring and recording with my late guitar-legend husband and studying human relations. I have a Masters in Teaching from The Evergreen State College and am certified in English and Drama with continuing and current state certification K-12. I taught full-time on the elementary and high school levels, and substitute now in many subjects for schools in Olympia, Tumwater and Shelton. I taught English for COMPASS USA recently to Japanese-speaking students from Okinawa. I have a working knowledge of Spanish and some French, and am comfortable helping students improve their English skills. I teach based upon what the student most needs to know, determining together and with parents how best to achieve goals, basing lessons upon interests. I am versatile, skilled, capable, kind, and clear, with a good sense of humor, a love of community, experience in alternative education, and a commitment to peace.
