I have a Masters in Teaching from Austin College. I am certified EC-4 in the state of Texas, and I have a supplemental certification in ESL. In addition I have attended training in language therapy through the Neuhaus Educaton Center.
Over the past 3 and a half years, I have worked at the Reading Ranch Tutor center as the curriculum director. As part of my duties, I wrote curriculum and organized the scope and sequence. I also worked closely training and supervising the part-time teaching staff.
I have had the opportunity to work with pre-school students, building their literary foundation. In addition, I worked in the classroom with struggling school age readers, including students with dyslexia, in grade K-6th. Being able to watch a child grow and become a more confident reader is a wonderful reward. I have a passion for literacy and for helping children become confident readers.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse groups of students, to include those with learning differences, those who performed at grade level, and those who were gifted and talented. As a result, I have become proficient at creating lesson plans that incorporate multiple learning types.
