I taught photography at the secondary school level for 23 years at Kenai Central High School in Alaska and at Centralia High School in Washington state for 10 years. I taught analog (film) and digital photography at the community college level (as an adjunct) for 11 years at SPSCC and for 6 months at The Evergreen State College as an interim instructor.
I love teaching, especially something I love, and I love photography. I no longer want to work in the classroom, but enjoy working one-on-one or in small groups with students. I have tutored several of my college students, and find it to be fun and rewarding.
I have studied photography all my life, through workshops and individual classes, including the workshops with masters of photography like Ansel Adams, Roy DeCarava, Jerry Uelsmann and Paul Caponigro. I am especially interested in night photography and nature and wildlife photography. I was a commercial fisherman in Alaska for 20 years, so I am also very interested in marine photography. I also do wedding and event photography commercially.
