I've been a math tutor for about 18 years, both on my own and for other companies. I've worked for Sylvan Learning Center, as well as Edmonds Community College. I'm very good with students with disabilities and learning challenges. I'm patient, and I can adjust my explanations to suit individual learning styles.

I was certified as a math and physics teacher, and I'm currently waiting to be re-certified. I let my certificate lapse because I wasn't teaching in the classroom. I have a B.A. in Math, with a teaching minor in physics. I will be returning to college as a graduate student this fall, working toward a second BA and a Master's in Teaching at Evergreen.

Algebra 1

Algebra is my specialty. I can explain the concepts in many different ways, and all of the students I have had have done very well after they've been tutored by me.

Algebra I includes understanding integers, working with variables, solving equations and using formulas. It also involves soling story problems as is a very important basis for further math studies.

Prealgebra

Because I love Algebra, I also love prealgebra, and helping students be prepared for Algebra and more advanced subjects.

Prealgebra involves learning to work with numbers and variables in new ways. Working with fractions and decimals, ratios and proportions, statistics and probability, basic geometry and basic algebra. Students who understand these very important basics are ready to move on to algebra.

GED

I've worked in a college GED lab, and I'm able to tutor all of the subjects. Students typically have the most difficulty with math.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored elementary school students at Sylvan learning center. I'm certified in Elementary Math and Science, and have done homework support with that age in a wide variety of subjects.

Study Skills

I work with students on keeping track of assignments, planning projects and study time, increasing reading comprehension and vocabulary and reducing test anxiety.

Special Needs

I have been employed in the Students With Disabilities Office at Edmonds Community College, working with many students with special needs. I am patient and kind. When I am working with students, I am careful to relate concepts to others that are already understood.

QuickBooks

I have worked as a bookkeeper for many years, and used QuickBooks in my bookkeeping work. I tested at an expert level when applying for the temporary agency I was working for, and I have set up company books from scratch.

ADD/ADHD

I raised a son with ADHD, and I've worked with many students with this diagnosis. One of my past positions was with the Students With Disabilities Office at Edmonds Community College, where I worked with many students with ADD/ADHD.

If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
