I am offering my services as a Math, English and/or French tutor. I have significant experience as both a one-on-one high school tutor and teaching high school students, and I can improve your son or daughter's grades and knowledge in these subjects without a doubt.
During college, I worked for two years as a one-on-one tutor for a DC-area ESL student. During the week, I prepared lessons in reading, writing, speaking and vocabulary, and visited his house twice a week to work on those lessons and any homework help that he needed. During my work as a tutor, I learned the most important aspect of tutoring - noticing what my student was struggling to understand. Only when I understood what he was thinking during the lesson could I make the lesson more relatable to him and his learning level.
I attended a French school in Los Angeles for 7 years, from kindergarten until the eighth grade, where I studied, among other subjects, math, science, history and geography in French. I also minored in French in college. I scored an 800 on the French SAT II and a 5 on the AP French Exam. During college, I lived in Paris for a summer as part of a study abroad program. From October 2010 until April 2011, I lived and worked in France as part of the Teaching Assistant Program in France through the French Embassy. I worked in Laon, France, teaching my own independent English courses to French high school students. I was in charge of developing my own lesson plans during that time, using resources at the school as well as online resources.
I have always been quick to understand Math and English, whether in a classroom setting or with regards to standardized testing. I will prepare thorough lessons for your son or daughter in any area in which he or she needs help. In addition, I am very patient, friendly, easy to talk to, relatable. I plan on working in the teaching field for the rest of my career, and I can offer my experience and expertise in these fields to you as soon as possible.
My high school standardized test scores: I received an 800 on the SAT Math; a 720 on the SAT Verbal; a 720 on the SAT II Writing; an 800 on the SAT II Math; a 5 on the AP Calculus B/C exam; an 800 on the SAT II French; and a 5 on the AP French Exam.
