I am a Portuguese and English teacher specializing in individual students or small groups in order to address specific needs. The objective is to provide a strong foundation that will allow students to progress favorably.

Having taught in Portugal and China, I am aware of the cultural component that has to accompany the study of a language. Therefore, my teaching involves several components - language, linguistics, culture, history, literature -, depending on the students' needs. To add to the study of writing, I encourage speaking as a way to consolidate knowledge.

Vocabulary

Learning vocabulary is a task that never ends. We all read and hear new words all the time. The "secret" to acquiring those words is not always easy: there needs to be a clear definition of the meaning of the new word (not all dictionaries are helpful) and, very importantly, a clear sense of the contexts in which it can(not) and should (not) be used.
