Science, Math, and English tutoring or homework coach

Hello!
I am a Washington State certified science teacher. I am excited to help students meet their educational goals. I can tutor in specific subjects (our work may not match what is being done during school hours), or I can be a homework coach and help with time management, organization, and assigned work.

I would also be thrilled to help a student who is interested in Biology or other science work (safely) on their own projects.

I earned a 4.0 in each of my required college composition classes, have always tested high in reading and writing, and am eager to share my English proficiency with you.

Biology

I am constantly amazed by the diversity and resiliency of life on this planet. I have a B.S. in neurobiology from UW, a Master's in Education from UW and a current WA teaching certificate with endorsements in Biology and Middle Level Science.

I have experience in providing inquiry type lessons, helping students understand scientific literature, and connecting science to everyday life.

English

As an enthusiastic reader, I have always found English (reading, writing, and grammar) to be pretty intuitive. I earned a 4.0 in each of my required college composition classes. I am very good at proofreading and suggesting alternate phrasing so that your writing flows well and to ensure that you say exactly what you mean. I can also help you prepare for standardized test with reading comprehension or writing required.

Study Skills

I have a master's degree in education, and a secondary teaching certificate. I have been a homework coach/tutor for the last two years, and some of my students are now mostly independent of my services. When the student needs organization and study skills help more than content, I see it as my job to coach me out of that gig.
