I have been a student of history for as long as I can remember, and American History has been a major part of that. I have completed several survey of American History courses, as well as specifics courses, including examining the use of public history and oral history. I will be able to help your student integrate the individual facts into a cohesive, overall picture of American History, helping them to be more successful!
I have always been a competent communicator, which is at the core of English education. Through a basic understanding of grammar, sentence structure, and the tenets of the English language, your student will become a better communicator as well. My English courses throughout college reinforced this information and my knowledge in the subject area.
As a student in the Honors program at Seattle University, I participated in a 5 course intensive seminar series on European History. This experience has given me a wide breadth of knowledge regarding European History, which I have supplemented through additional courses throughout my college career and recreational studies on further information. I believe that the best way to learn history is to examine events and look at how they fit into a larger context, a skill that I will endeavor to transfer to your student.
I have long been a successful writer. During my undergraduate career, I completed a multitude of extended research oriented writing assignments and always scored high marks. In addition, during creative writing classes I performed exceedingly well. I have always been praised on my ability to communicate my voice through my writing. In addition, I am currently working on a short story collection and a novella, continuing to refine my creative writing abilities. I will do everything I can to help your student learn to find their own voice in their writing while still successfully communicating what they need to.
