Hello, my name is Matt F., and I just moved back from Taiwan where I spent nine years teaching English to students of all ages. This includes small children, corporate executives, high school students, and housewives.
With many years of experience teaching non-native English speakers, I have developed a complete grasp of teaching English and can easily identify deficiencies in speech, grammar, reading, and writing. My specialties are in test preparation, public speaking, writing, reading, and learning basic grammar.
My teaching style will change depending on the student and their needs; to some students light banter and conversation is all they may want. To other students, they will want an honest assessment of their abilities and a straightforward plan to address these deficiencies.
With younger children I often play games and try to make the lessons fun so that learning English is an exciting activity not a chore.
With older children and adults, I develop a plan of action with measurable steps and testing. For parents, I can be the "bad guy" who holds the child accountable for doing their homework. And for the adult student, I can be that same "bad guy" who pushes them to practice and improve their English.
In any case, I am always a cheerful prepared teacher who really cares about the progress of my students.
