Patient, Positive, Encouraging and Effective Tutor

I have been tutoring all ages (5th grade through adult) for the past few years. I also have familiarity with the IB Math and Chemistry programs having successfully tutored students at Skyline HS.

By far, my favorite subjects are math and science, but I love to show the tricks for test taking for ASVAB, TEAS, MCAT, Compass, SAT and ACT exam. I specialize in identifying the roadblocks to your success and getting you to your goal. I can also help students understand their style of learning and assist with study skills.

My philosophy in tutoring is to build confidence and academic proficiency so I can release the student.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have four children ages: 5-15 and have tutored similar ages for the past few years. Study Skills

Study skills are essential for any student not only for their present academic career but also for college and work.

I have been working with middle school and high school students on specific study skills, like goal setting, organization, reading comprehension, listening skills, and more since 2010. These skills are essential to success now and into college and work.

Voice (Music)

I am an accomplished vocalist who has been teaching voice lessons during the past four years. I was a vocalist with the Northwest Gospel Jazz band for 5 years. I have also been performing at weddings for the past 20 years.
I do stress proper warmups and warmdowns as well as voice strengthening exercises. I also want my students to know how to read notes. In addition, we work on ear training to ensure pitch is right where it should be.

Soccer

I have been a soccer coach with Covington Community sports since 2008. When I was young, I played select soccer for 6 years before I had a knee injury which took me out of the game. I also won soccer skills contests sponsored through Coca Cola in my age group (first place local and third place in the state).

Now, I love to coach. I encourage while giving the players new opportunities to try skills in teamwork and individual soccer skills as well.

Clarinet

I've played clarinet since the age of 9, won awards at the Kingco Conference Solo Ensemble Contests and performed at two State solo competitions. In addition, I played for the Seattle Youth Symphony and represented our state in the Northwest Band and then orchestra, as well as the John Philip Sousa Band.

MCAT

After leaving the University of Washington with my Bachelors of Science, I decided to go back to take the MCAT test and prepare for entrance into medical school. I took the test twice and enrolled in the Kaplan prep class for the MCAT as well.

Microsoft Outlook

I have been using MS Outlook since 1991. As a project manager, I used this program to send email communications to my sponsors and other stakeholders on the project. I also used it to take votes for post project parties and tracking invitations to meetings. This is a powerful tool that I can help you use more of!

Microsoft Publisher

I love publisher for the quick newsletters, marketing pieces, and more. I have used this application since 1995. It is one of my favorites. If you need help getting it to do what you need, let me know. I can help!

Microsoft Project

As a project manager for over 12 years, MS Project was my tracking tool of choice. I could write macros, print out different reports depending on my audience and of course, use it to capture all information that I needed regarding time and budget on my project.
