My main priority is meeting the needs of the individual student, working with strengths and weaknesses and catering to his or her learning style(s) in order to maximize the educational experience. I am student-driven and student-focused, and I will communicate and work with the student and parent(s) in establishing reachable learning goals, as well as to plan reasonable steps in order to reach such goals. My motivation is to encourage students and build upon past progress to increase confidence. I aim to get pupils excited about learning and to develop ways to make the educational process easier and more engaging, making learning fun!
I am a Washington State certified teacher with a Master's in Teaching with a biology endorsement. International baccalaureate high school diploma from Edmonds-Woodway High School and a Bachelor of Arts degree with highest honors in environmental science and a literature minor from Northwest University.
I have a year of direct tutoring experience at Huntington Learning Center as a Managing Director and tutor. At the Huntington center, I was in charge of evaluating students' performance in school and developing individualized programs to bring each student up to grade level. I met with both parents and teachers regularly to track progress towards educational goals and also gave student instruction on a regular basis. I have over two years of private tutoring experience from the elementary to college level with strong backgrounds in science, English, and exam preparation. I have experience speaking in front of groups of students, tracking progress across time, and helping students build confidence and have fun while learning new concepts.
