I worked for 7 years as a special education assistant, specializing in children with ADD and dyslexia. My husband is dyslexic and one son is dyslexic. I also home schooled my four sons till middle school. As if schooling my own children wasn't enough for me I went off to college the same year my youngest left for college. I graduated with my BA in Health & Wellness in July of 2012. I maintained a 4.0 grade point average, while working full time and going to school full time.

I love helping students learn about what they are capable of. I've used my research and knowledge in helping not only my son and other students but also my husband to realize that dyslexia is a gift. If it were not for this special gift of dyslexia we would not have most of our explorers, inventors, and scientists.

Elementary Math

Elementary Math is more than just adding and subtracting numbers. When a child learns how to compare, describe, sort, measure they begin to look at the world differently. As students progress through the process of Elementary Math they begin to understand a little of how their world works.

Elementary (K-6th)

I worked in co-teaching (K-6th) for over 10 years. Teaching students in Art, Science, Health, Reading, Math, Social Studies, Music. I also homeschooled my own 4 sons for many years. I well versed in the protocol in the many teaching styles and understand that each student is different and requires tutors to adapt to each one.

Bible Studies

I taught Bible Studies to a multi-aged Children's group for seven years. The youngest in the group was three and the oldest was 11. I taught them through hands-on projects. The subjects included the Days of Creation, stories of Noah, Moses, Joseph, Josiah, Mary, Jesus, Peter, Paul, Abraham, Issac, Jacob, and many others. I also covered the big events from the Bible: The Flood, Noah's Ark, Crossing the Red Sea, Sermon on the Mount and others.

Dyslexia

I have worked in special education for over 10 years, specializing in students with dyslexia. I also have a husband and a son with dyslexia that I home schooled for a time. I take a multifaceted approach to helping students and people with this issue because dyslexia is as unique as the person.

Needlework

I've been crocheting since I was 5, designing my first sweater when I was 10. I am an avid crocheter and have taught classes to grade and middle school students as well as adults.

How do I receive a discount?

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
