Working with children of all ages has always been one of my top strengths and it keeps my mind active, searching for new connections. I usually learn something new or create an enhanced thought pattern when teaching someone else and this is important to me since I strive for constant expansion.

I grew up as the oldest child and have been essentially the male guardian to my 14 year old sister. Before the age of 2, she was able (among other skills) to say the alphabet backward in less than 10 seconds and could perform a few self defense moves. That isn't a highlight of my favorite subjects, simply an example of the variety of areas I can teach. I have extensively taught all my siblings in numerous classes as well as several of my nieces/nephews and the occasionally temporary tutoring job with kids and adults.

Children and animals love me. I've babysat countless times for my siblings and their friends. My sister's friend's parents trust me to watch over their children. I've been in charge of groups of kids during field trips, sports teams, have organized games for them, tutored...etc. etc.

I have been a Teachers Aide, a Library Aide, a coach, a guest speaker of psychology and philosophy, an umpire, etc., so have an enormous amount of experience teaching both kids and adults as well as keeping children on task. I have created resumes for ESL adults and assisted them in writing cover letters.

I am an excellent coach and believe that is my absolute strongest skill. Teaching is quite similar to coaching so isn't too far behind.

I always feel enriched when I teach someone something new and witness them apply their new knowledge, especially children. At times when others would lose patience, I just smile even more knowing I have the capability to view struggles in an optimistic light and enjoy challenging myself to discover a way to get through to the specific individual.

Each fully functioning human has the innate desire to learn. The motivation is already there. It's just that other stimuli/emotional upsetness/imbalance of nutrients/lack of exercise/etc. can interfere with this. Each child wants to learn, you simply have to provide the fodder for the wanted consternation by relating the task to something in which they identify. Once there is an established dynamic and rhythm, the people I have taught become interested in my analogies/relations and start learning at an accelerated pace.

I am completely comfortable and quite capable of accomplishing tasks in an efficient, precise, calm and timely manner. I am an expert organizer and profoundly meticulous and can incorporate these traits into your required curriculum. I am a quick and proficient learner and can adapt to most situations well and stay patient and optimistic during situations in which most would lose their cool.

Thank you for reading and if you choose me to assist you in one of the areas in which I'm familiar, you will not be disappointed.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Basketball

Coaching is easily one of my top 3 most evolved abilities; both for a team and for individuals.
I have attending camps, played on and coached for several years in all the sports I have listed interest in. I have acquired multiple varsity letters.

I have plenty of stories, but from a coaching aspect, here is my best: at the end of a middle school age important hockey game which I was coaching, we needed a goal with less than a minute left. I rotated in our decisively worst player who I had been working with. Parents and teammates were obviously mad and if they hadn't respected me, they most certainly would have been yelling in my face. But the child's dad who he rarely sees was watching intently, my player had been calmly following the strategy and his role all game, and he was the most rested player. So I felt the game and put him in. After the puck found his stick, I yelled "shoot!!" as loud as I could and this insecure kid BLASTED in a shot from center. Everyone on our side went crazy and his dad practically hugged me. A beautiful moment in several people's lives and more important to me than my own accolades, such as the time I scored the winning goal in our team's soccer championship.

In addition:

During pick up games, my team usually wins AND my teammates have more fun when I am the "team captain".

I have been a huge sports fan all my life: playing, watching, motivating, studying, and coaching. I learned the fundamentals and studied the game...not just watched the ball as most viewers do. Anyone who has watched a game with me has been impressed with my insight that is nearly always more accurate and precise than the announcers who are calling it. For example: in football, I can call an incomplete or complete pass before it leaves the QB's hands and am right way more often than not.

I understand these sports and all aspects involved.

Whether it be motivating, running drills, discovering patterns and making on the fly adjustments, and tweaking techniques to increase the quality and potential of a certain player, I am your man.
