Tony. I'm an experienced ESL TOEFL and IELTS teacher. I have been teaching in Tianjin, China for the past two years. During that time I have taught every level of student from primary school to university students. I have also taught businesses such as OTIS, Xiali international division and international wind turbine company by the name of Eulikind. I have also had private students and my own private school with 30 students.
The teaching materials I use include books, worksheets, games, cd's, recordings, videos, movies and music. As a teacher I will take you through three steps:
Step 1. The first step is to get you, the student, to open your mouth. In the first step we need to get you to stop being nervous. You need to become comfortable with hearing your voice. You don't feel comfortable and you are unsure. So you need to be comfortable with the sound of your voice and opening your mouth.
Step 2. Step two is the most important part of the three parts. The goal of learning any language is to be understood when you speak that language. It doesn't matter if your English is perfect. It only matters that when you open you mouth you are understood. If you can get your idea from you to the person you are trying to talk with and if that person can understand what you are trying to say to them then you are communicating in the English language. If you are understood then you have accomplished your goal.
Step 3. Once you are able to communicate in the English language and be understood is the time to start making your English perfect. If you try to make it perfect as you learn you will make your learning process longer than it needs to be. Learning English is a process and the process is very effective when used properly.
