I can help with your Microsoft Word or Publisher projects as well as converting them into other formats (like .pdf) for use in your classes. I can also help with computer issues, both hardware and software, as well as configuration and networking, including both Windows PC's and Mac OSX. I am CompTIA A+ Certified and ready to help you with your school projects. I will explain in plain English how to solve the questions you have. I have been in the position of explaining how to solve issues for 9 years and am anxious to help you succeed with your classes.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Desktop Publishing

I have been doing desktop publishing for 15 years. I have done newsletters, announcements, flyers, business cards, picture/text collages for posters, and manuscripts for book publishing.

General Computer

I have knowledge of Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 operating systems. I have knowledge of Mac OS X Operating systems, including Mavericks. I have knowledge of internet usage. I have a set up of wired and wireless networks for internet access as well as access to other devices on that network. I will provide explanations in non-technical terms.

Macintosh

I have been doing Macintosh troubleshooting for 9 years. I own two Macs and have done hardware and software work with them as well as upgrading the OSX operating system. I have incorporated them into networks alongside Windows-based machines.

Microsoft Outlook

I have used Microsoft Outlook for 15 years. It is my main email client. I can help with setting up numerous email accounts so they come through to this one program. I manage 8 email addresses of my own through Outlook. I also competent with MacMail, Open Office and Mozilla Thunderbird.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I have set up PowerPoint presentations for several of the classes I have attended and received high marks for my work. I have also set them up for meetings.

Microsoft Publisher

I have used Publisher for 15 years while doing desktop publishing. I use it initially to do the desktop publishing and then save it as a .pdf when completed. Publisher files are extremely large so they do not translate through email. The files must be converted to something like a .pdf file in order to be compact enough to attach to emails and be opened and viewed by the recipients.

Microsoft Windows

I have worked with computers since "DOS Days". I am familiar with all versions of Microsoft Windows including: 95/98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8. I am an OEM Registered Microsoft Refurbisher. I have installed and upgraded all of these platforms as well as worked with them.

Microsoft Word

I am well-versed in Microsoft Word for both Windows and Mac. I am able to teach how to edit and format while typing as well as after the document is written.

I can also teach how to easily incorporate pictures and tables into the document and how to use the spell-check and grammar-checker features.

Networking (Computer)

I have a CompTIA A+ Certification in computing, which includes networking. I have set up numerous home networks, both wired and wireless using Netgear, Linksys and D-Link routers. I have helped people online, in-person and on the phone with networking issues for 9 years.

A Wireless router is the way to go for sure. There are some things to consider though, when buying a router. The size of your home is a big factor. If you live in a very large home, you will want a gigabit router. Netgear makes a great one. I use a Netgear 600 dual-band gigabit router. My home...
