I have a Bachelor's degree in Professional Writing from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and eventually I will be working towards achieving a Doctorate so I can reach my goal of becoming a Professor. I have experience working with kids from a summer job as a playground supervisor. I loved that job and really enjoy helping others learn and enjoy themselves. My goal when tutoring is to make it educational and fun. I realize that English, grammar, and writing are not fun subjects for a lot of people, so my techniques involve mixing creative writing with grammar and using a lot of hands on exercises to keep the student involved and entertained. It's all about what they gain from the experience, and I believe that bringing the subject to life and applying it to the individual is more effective that dry lectures and textbooks, although I do have textbooks that I work from. I am also a dedicated baseball fan and softball player, so if anyone needs a writing instructor, as well as a baseball instructor, I'm your guy.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

I have a Bachelor's degree in Professional Writing from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and eventually I will be working towards achieving a Doctorate so I can reach my goal of becoming a Professor. I love grammar and the English language as a whole. I have taken multiple grammar, linguistics, research, writing, and literature classes that will be helpful in tutoring someone on this subject.

Grammar

I have a Bachelor's degree in Professional Writing from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and eventually I will be working towards achieving a Doctorate so I can reach my goal of becoming a Professor. Of all the subjects encompassed within English as a whole, grammar is my favorite. I believe that communication is the main goal of writing, and grammar is the first step in that process. Given my knowledge and enjoyment of this subject, I think I would be an excellent instructor.

Writing

I have a Bachelor's degree in Professional Writing from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and eventually I will be working towards achieving a Doctorate so I can reach my goal of becoming a Professor. With the Professional Writing degree, I learned about all types of writing, from advertising and technical writing, to creative writing and poetry. I was on the editorial staff of Rock Writing while in college, I presented some of my work at the SRU Student Research Symposium, and I have experience editing and writing ads. Writing is not only a skill that I learned in college, but also a hobby of mine. I would love to have the opportunity to pass my knowledge along to someone else.
