I am an experienced English tutor to adult students who are learning English as their next language. There is nothing more rewarding than helping a student learn language through reading, writing and conversation. I really enjoy meeting people from all over the world who want to learn.

I have always chosen careers where I helped others and fed my curiosity about the world around me. Before I was an ESL tutor and aide, I was an editor and writer in newspaper and television news. I have also been a business trainer and volunteer public speaker. Since childhood, I have pursued music, dancing and choral singing as a means of self-expression.

Communication and information, in all forms, are important in today's world. Literacy should also play a lead role. It often takes a back seat to math and science, but it shouldn't. Our global economy requires workers and leaders who are adaptable and proficient in many diverse areas.

In June 2011, I completed a nine-month certification program at S-TESL, accredited by Seattle University. I completed a TESOL internship at Shoreline Community College in March 2011. I have been volunteering since January 2011 at Shoreline Community College as an ESL teacher's aide and co-teacher. I have been a paid ESL tutor since April 2012. I have experience with all levels of English learning, from beginning (preliterate) to advanced (college prep.)

Public Speaking

I have been a volunteer public speaker since high school, when I became an activist in politics and local government. I have taken public speaking classes in college. As a former broadcast journalist and current teacher-in-training, public speaking is natural to me.

Speech

I have taken speech classes in college. I have been a volunteer public speaker for many years. I have recently been certified as an ESL instructor/tutor, which includes training in speech and pronunciation.

How do I receive a discount?

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
