Tutored for Olympic College. Started with Organic Chemistry and expanded to include Algebra through Calculus and most of the sciences. I was well liked by most of my students and was asked by them to help with other subjects (such as English or Music) that I had to decline.

Mostly my working premise is that the student can learn the material. It is up to me to find a way of presentation that works with the student's background. I use the Socratic method a lot, asking the student questions and building on the response.

I did some Skin diving from 1966 to 1975, and back packing from 1969 to 1975, mostly in the Olympics. I've also done some sailing, both cruising and racing. I managed to place in top three a few time in the local races. I have taught others how to sail. I have some photography experience, including some amateur Astronomy photos of the Hale-Bop comet and other sky features.

I am located in Bremerton. So, working with students in King county would be too expensive in travel time and cost. Sorry.

Too many people work test questions in the order they are written. But, when time is limited that is usually a bad idea. You want to want to make sure to get credit for all the material you know. The best method for a large test with limited time is; Read the question, if you are sure of the answer finish the question, if not, move on to the next question. Once finished with those questions,... read more

Was working was a bright lady that was having a terrible time with algebra. Had gotten her to relax and was working through problems at about one every 30 seconds. Then I made the comment, "See you can do math." The next problem took 20 minutes and was not any harder than the others. She did not just go dumb, she became creative at finding ways to incorrectly work the problem... read more
