Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biostatistics

I have tutored several years for WyzAnt in the area of Statistics with applications to all of the scientific disciplines including the area of Biostatistics. My WyzAnt feedback rating is 4.9 with quite a few 5 star ratings specifically in Statistics. In addition I have over 1500 hours of tutoring through WyzAnt.

Computer Programming

I have programmed professionally in several high level languages such as Basic, Fortran, C++ and developed websites using HTML, CSS, Flash, Perl and PHP. I have also worked in a couple of assembly languages. I am open to teach any language that also has value in the real world.

Computer Science

I have worked as an IT industry professional for over 30 years. I have programmed in various languages, installed and configured hardware and software, and recently have focused on computer network security issues. I was actively certified as a Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) for about six years (until October 2010).

Differential Equations

I have studied both differential equations and partial differential equations as an undergraduate, and used these techniques to solve problems physics boundary value problems, and in transformer and power supply design while at Tektronix, Inc. in Beaverton, Oregon.

Electrical Engineering

Though my primary tutoring area is math, I worked as an electrical engineer at Tektronix in Beaverton, Oregon for about a year and worked extensively with circuits as a teenager. I have a good grasp of the equations and theory behind electronics and have worked with circuit simulation software. I also have been a computer network troubleshooter.

ISEE

I prepped a 10-year old recently in ISEE math. He took the test and, coupled with his above average verbal skills, was able to get on the waiting list at Overlake. When another family decided not to go with the school, my student was picked, after an extensive interview process involving the whole family, to be able to enter that school this coming fall (2012).

Linear Algebra

I have worked extensively with linear algebra and matrices in high school and university courses as preparation for a BS in Math. It was all a part of my entire math curriculum. In addition I have tutored extensively in the field of linear algebra.

Microsoft Windows

Having worked in the IT industry since the late '70s at companies such as Tektronix and Intel, I began working with Microsoft Windows from the very earliest releases and administered both server and client releases including Win95/Win98/2000/XP/Vista/Win7/Win8Beta and NT/2000/2003/2008 Server OS's. I have installed networks, configured computers and setup security and many other types of software.

Networking (Computer)

I was employed for many years in the field of both local and wide area networking at companies like Intel Corporation and Nortel as well as owning and operating my own small business in sales, configuration and integration of computer networks.

Piano

I have been a musician from a very young age, having played clarinet in bands and orchestras from 4th grade through adulthood. I have had several years of classical training in piano with two of those at University of Puget Sound and Oregon State. I am an excellent sight reader and have been paid as an accompanist and have training in music theory.

SAT Math

I personally scored 800/800 on the SAT Math as well as 800/800 on the SAT Level II Subject Test. I have a lot of experience in helping students prepare for any of the SAT Math tests to be able to find solutions to the problems quickly and accurately.

Find Answer (answer)

If sinA, cosA and tanA are consecutive terms of a geometric progression, then: cos2A = (sinA)(tanA) = sin2A/cosA   so cos3A = sin2A = 1 - cos2A   therefore cos2A + cos3A = 1

Want to wish you all a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!! I look forward to working with more new students in 2012, but don't feel you need to wait to contact me if you are urgently needing help in the week after Christmas.
