####
Algebra 1

I taught Alg.I / Alg. II students one-on-one every year before my retirement in 6/11.

####
Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra II students one on one for 14 years before my retirement in Jun. 2011.

####
Chemistry

For over 14 years, I taught Math & Physics every year at a private school in Woodinville. All teaching was one on one with students. In addition to my math/physics teaching, I also taught Chemistry a number of years when the school needed additional help in that subject. Since most Chemistry (except lab work) is math-based, and I had Chemistry in both high school and college, it was a fairly easy transition.

####
Geometry

I taught geometry every year during my 14 years of teaching at a private school in Woodinville. All Geometry teaching was one on one at the school. I retired in June of 2011.

####
Physics

I taught Physics every year during my 14 years teaching one on one until my retirement in June 2011.

####
Prealgebra

I taught pre-algebra students during many of my 14 years of teaching at a private high school in Woodinville. All math teaching was one on one, very much like tutoring. The secret to good math, is understanding the basic skills. Finding ways to make this more understandable for students, and even humor helps greatly.

####
Precalculus

I taught Precalculus students almost every year during my 14 years at a private school in Woodinville. All teaching was one on one. Precalculus is an important step between Algebra II and Trigonometry and Calculus. The students refine their understanding of Algebra and Trigonometry and learn how to solve more complicated problems in preparation for Calculus. A good understanding of these courses is absolutely essential for success in Calculus.

####
Trigonometry

I taught Trigonometry as part of my Alg.II courses all 14 years during my teaching one on one until my retirement in June 2011.

####
SAT Math

During my 14 years of teaching high school math/science one on one in a private school, I taught SAT prep to any student requesting it. SAT math prep is basically a review of Alg.I, Geometry, and Alg.II/with Trig. Additional themes are showing students how to work quickly, prioritize work to save time, and navigate deceptive/confusing questions.

####
GRE

During college I took the GRE and also professional engineering (Pennsylvania engineer in training) exams and have taught/tutored students in various exams while here in the Seattle area since 1995.

####
GED

Over the years while I was teaching, I've helped many students prepare for various exams, GED, SAT, GRE, etc....

####
Probability

During my years of schooling I had probability incorporated into my math/science courses at all levels. While teaching I also had probability chapters or lessons in many of my math courses. It can be a very enjoyable lesson as it deals with the probability of all kinds of events from flipping coins, rolling die, drawing cards, gender of births, seeing a certain brand of car.....

####
PSAT

While teaching students one on one for over 14 years at a private school in Woodinville, I often incorporated test prep, such as PSAT, into the course material. This would be done at the student/parents request and use standard prep books commonly found at bookstores.

The students would complete as many of the prep problems as they could on their own and then we would go over the proper procedures necessary to solve the problems that they couldn't complete.

####
ACT Math

During my years of teaching I often helped students prepare for standardized tests (ie. SAT & ACT) in conjunction with teaching math in a one on one environment at a private school. I had one student who came to our school because he was near failing at a public school. I had him 3 years for math. He scored a perfect 800 on the SAT test.

####
Elementary Math

I have often worked with middle school students and feel comfortable teaching them. They are studying basic mathematical principles to get ready for algebra. During my 14 years of teaching high school math/science at a private school, where all teaching was one on one, I had some middle schoolers and everything from 7th grade through calculus.

####
ISEE

I have helped prepare students for many standard tests containing math or sciences (SAT, PSAT, GRE, ACT...) both while teaching (14 years) and as a tutor since retiring (two years). I emphasize students must be fast and accurate to achieve high scores. I help students improve their skills, learn quicker and more accurate ways to solve problems,x when to skip a problem, and how to check answers.

####
Linear Algebra

I taught linear algebra as part of my algebra II and precalculus courses every year during the 14 years I taught one-on-one at a private school before retiring.

####
Civil Engineering

I have a Bachelor of Science from West Point, a Masters in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University, and am a licensed Petroleum Engineer in Texas. During my career, I worked for one year at the Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station, Concrete Laboratory. I have worked for 10 1/2 years for Exxon as a Surface Engineer and Civil Engineer
