I am a Washington State certified math and physics teacher with over 14 years of experience in one-on-one teaching of Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Social Sciences at a private high school in Woodinville. I retired in June of 2011 and started tutoring with WyzAnt almost immediately. I had also informally tutored other classmates while in high school, college, and worked as a United Way volunteer tutoring students in Texas.
Prior experiences:
Bachelor of Science - West Point: 1971
Served over 10 years on active duty in the US Army
Masters Degree, Civil Engineering - Iowa State: 1976
Worked over 10 years as a Petroleum and Civil Engineer for Exxon
Served over 11 years in the US Army Reserve, Retired as a Lt. Col. 1993
Teaching Certificate in Math & Physics from UW: 1995
Taught full-time at Chrysalis School in Woodenville 1997 - 2011
Retired from full time teaching: 2011
I have worked teaching high school students (math, physics, and some years of chemistry) on a one-on-one basis at a private high school from 1997 to 2011. I have also tutored college students. I have been successful in teaching/tutoring all ages of students in math and science. As a United Way volunteer I tutored grade school students who were temporary wards of the state.
I always have great rapport with my students; I try to make learning fun, show students practical or even humorous ways to think of or remember mathematical principles, not just rote memorization of formulas.
On a personal note, I am an avid Mariners fan! Felix...perfect!
