I successfully completed the College Reading
and Learning Associations's International Tutor Program of Certification, and would very much like to talk to you about how I can help with your tutoring needs. I have a Bachelor’s of Science
in Software Engineering Technology (SET), from Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT), "minored" in mathematics
, and tutored programming
while earning my degree. As well, after earning my degree, I continued tutoring and began teaching math and programming students at local schools.
I took my first computer
programming class in high school, and discovered I loved programming, and discovered I also loved helping others with programming. I became a programming tutor for various computer classes while earning an Associate of Applied Science in Business
and an Associate of Arts at Kenai Peninsula Community College (KPCC). I was also a volunteer tutor and charter member of KPCC’s Student Tutor Education Program, and earned an education credit for my work.
While continuing my education at OIT I came to love math, and took all the extra math classes I could, and the tutoring center coordinator asked me if I would tutor for them. After I began tutoring students asked me if I would tutor them privately. I also had parents contacting me via the grapevine, requesting that I tutor their children. My students regularly told me they thought I was a good tutor, and encouraged me to continue in the education field.
After I earned my Bachelor’s in SET from OIT, I considered the encouragement of my former students, and continued as a math and programming tutor at Lake Washington Technical College (LWTC) and Bellevue Community College (BCC). I also taught math and computer programming
for 9 quarters at LWTC.
Later I taught computer programming at Bellevue Christian School (BCS), and also tutored math as a math-lab instructor, and also substituted for other teachers as needed. During my first year at BCS I also tutored math and computer programming at UW-Bothell, where students again encouraged me to continue in the education field.
More recently I tutored math and taught Java
computer programming at Bellevue College (BC). And today I work at King’s High school as a substitute teacher, and I hope to pursue my teaching credentials.
I still very much enjoy tutoring computer programming, and math, and I know my experiences as a math / programming teacher / tutor, and my own love of learning and my joy of sharing knowledge will be of benefit to you, enabling me to make a contribution to your confidence, understanding, and learning success, and I am sure you will agree after we discuss your tutoring needs.
