I'm a student attending Western Washington University as an undergrad, although I'm from California originally and plan to work there over the summer. I'm studying product design, but I find English and public speaking to be some of my strongest and favorite school subjects. In the past, I have served as president of an area Gavel Club, acted as a panelist for homeschooling Q&A sessions, and written my own comedy routines.

As I have not spent much time at the head of a classroom, you'll find I'm on the informal side of the tutoring spectrum; I'll speak to you as an equal rather than as an instructor. For much of my life, I've helped friends with proofreading, design critiques, and more. I look forward to working with you and helping accomplish your goals.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

I received a score of 5 on the AP English Language and Composition Exam, 780 on the 2012 SAT Writing, and a 740 on the 2012 SAT Reading. I also received an exemption from English 101 at Western Washington University.

Graphic Design

I took Visual Communications courses from Las Positas College in Livermore, CA, on subjects from introductory design to Illustrator to Web Design. As an Industrial Design major at WWU, I have also compiled and submitted two effective portfolios, with a third one due at the end of sophomore year. I have also worked freelance with two T-shirt designers, both of whom have marketed products born from my work.

Macintosh

I've been with Mac since the beginning; my parents would accept nothing less as a computer operating system. I started on OS 8 in the nineties, and have been steadily updating to keep pace with the system up to now, with OS 10.9, Mavericks. It's actually gotten to the point where using other operating systems takes a substantial amount of forethought before every action I take, Mac has been so well inculcated in my consciousness. I've also had experience troubleshooting my Grandmother's Mac computers, which gives me experience not only with the technology, but with helping others understand it as well.
